Description
Greenstone Toki with Koru Insert and Lashed Black Cord
Genuine New Zealand Pounamu (Greenstone), sourced and hand carved in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Pounamu is of great cultural significance for Māori and is believed to enhance mana (prestige) of its possessor. The toki necklace features a carved out koru in the middle and lashed black adjustable cord.
Toki are now worn around the neck as a symbol of strength, courage and determination. The shape represents a tool often used by Maori for carving, shaping, and weaponry and was originally used for practical purposes.
The koru inside represents the unfolding frond of the native fern tree, new life and beginning. When carved in to the stone it is a symbol of strength and togetherness with a new and positive future for the wearer.
