Standing approximately 370mm high, this sculptural piece is expertly hand-assembled using a combination of Gaboon veneer plywood and medium-density fibreboard (MDF), creating a strong yet elegant foundation. The natural timber tones are beautifully contrasted with deep black backing layers, enhancing the visual depth and giving the design a bold, modern presence.
The flowing double-twist silhouette forms a continuous path, symbolising the intertwining of two journeys — whether it be friendship, love, family, or life paths that remain connected despite distance. The open negative spaces within the twist add lightness and dimension, allowing the design to breathe while maintaining its strong symbolic identity.
Intricately engraved throughout the surface are traditional Māori-inspired patterns, including koru flows, notched detailing, and spiral elements that represent growth, strength, and new beginnings. These patterns are precisely cut using advanced laser technology, achieving exceptional clarity and super fine detailing.
Enhancing the natural timber are striking accents of New Zealand Paua laminate inlay, positioned thoughtfully along the curves of the twist.
