Tiki – A Timeless Symbol of Life, Ancestry & Protection

Bring the beauty and cultural significance of New Zealand Māori-inspired art into your home with this exquisite Māori Tiki Wooden Wall Art Panel.

The Tiki is one of the most recognisable figures in Māori art and carving, traditionally depicted in a stylised human form with distinctive large eyes, a prominent head and carefully shaped facial and body features.

Tiki figures hold an important place in Māori cultural traditions and are often associated with ancestry, whakapapa (genealogy), fertility and the continuity of life.

The hei tiki, a traditional Māori pendant depicting a human figure, is particularly valued as a treasured ornament that can be passed down through generations. Such pieces may carry personal and ancestral significance, connecting families with their heritage.

The Tiki is also commonly associated with good fortune, protection and the celebration of life, making it a thoughtful symbol for meaningful gifts and special occasions.

This beautiful wall art panel captures the distinctive characteristics of a traditional-inspired Tiki figure in an elegant contemporary design, combining cultural inspiration with the natural beauty of New Zealand craftsmanship.

Beautifully Crafted with Exceptional Fine Detail

Proudly made in New Zealand, this impressive wall art panel is crafted from plantation-grown Gaboon wood, precision-cut to create exceptionally fine detail and a beautifully layered, three-dimensional appearance.

The central Tiki design features a distinctive expressive face, flowing decorative patterns and carefully shaped body details.

Particular attention has been given to the intricate features of the artwork, including:

• Striking pāua shell eyes – Two large, circular eyes featuring beautiful iridescent shades of blue, green and turquoise.
• Expressive facial carving – A prominent head, carefully defined nose and distinctive curved mouth give the Tiki its recognisable character.
• Intricate forehead patterns – Fine decorative cut-outs and flowing designs highlight the precision of the craftsmanship.
• Detailed body features – Carefully shaped arms, hands and body create a beautifully balanced traditional-inspired figure.
• Fine decorative motifs – Delicate patterns across the body add character and cultural inspiration.
• Layered three-dimensional construction – Raised wooden elements create depth, shadow and an impressive sculptural appearance.

The warm golden tones of the Gaboon wood contrast beautifully against a deep black recessed oval background, allowing every intricate detail to stand out.

Surrounding the central artwork is a rich Rimu-finish wooden panel, complemented by a bold black backing that creates a sophisticated and contemporary appearance.

The combination of natural timber tones, detailed carving and shimmering pāua shell gives this artwork a distinctive New Zealand character.
