Māori Coloured Kōwhaiwhai Scroll Wooden Wall Art – New Zealand Rimu Veneer - WCSC

Kōwhaiwhai – Celebrating Māori Art, Heritage & Connection

Introduce the beauty of Māori-inspired artistry into your home with this elegant Coloured Kōwhaiwhai Scroll Wooden Wall Art.

Kōwhaiwhai is a distinctive form of traditional Māori decorative art, recognised for its flowing curves, repeating patterns and graceful, rhythmic designs.

These patterns are commonly associated with the decoration of wharenui (Māori meeting houses), particularly the painted rafters and interior architectural features.

Kōwhaiwhai designs frequently draw inspiration from the natural world, including the unfurling koru fern frond, plant forms and the movement of nature.

Depending on the specific pattern and its cultural context, kōwhaiwhai can express ideas relating to growth, genealogy, ancestry, continuity and the connections between people, nature and the land.

The flowing patterns create a sense of movement and harmony, bringing together artistic beauty and cultural inspiration.

This contemporary coloured scroll interpretation celebrates these distinctive design traditions in a decorative wooden artwork suitable for modern New Zealand homes and interiors.

Beautiful New Zealand Rimu Veneer Craftsmanship

Proudly made in New Zealand, this wall art is crafted from New Zealand Rimu veneer board, giving it a warm timber appearance that complements the contemporary coloured kōwhaiwhai design.

The natural character of the wood provides an attractive foundation for the decorative artwork, creating a beautiful balance between traditional-inspired patterns and contemporary presentation.

The scroll design adds an elegant artistic element, making the panel an attractive feature without overwhelming the surrounding décor.

Its combination of flowing Māori-inspired patterns, colour and natural timber creates a decorative piece that works beautifully in both traditional and modern interiors.

Contemporary Māori-Inspired Scroll Design

The beauty of this artwork lies in its combination of traditional-inspired Māori decorative motifs and contemporary styling.

• Living rooms and family areas
• Entranceways and hallways
• Offices and reception areas
• Meeting rooms and professional spaces
