New Zealand Hand-Carved Wooden Tekoteko with Pāua Shell Eyes & Fern Inlay on Display Base – 33cm - WM922B

A Beautiful Expression of New Zealand Craftsmanship

Celebrate the artistry and heritage of New Zealand with this stunning hand-carved wooden Tekoteko, crafted from NZ hardwood and beautifully presented on a matching wooden display base.

Inspired by traditional Māori carving, the Tekoteko is a carved human figure commonly associated with ancestral representation and cultural identity. This decorative piece captures the distinctive character of Māori-inspired artistry through its expressive facial features, intricate patterns and beautifully detailed sculptural form.

The carving features a prominent head with carefully defined facial markings, detailed eyebrows, a distinctive mouth and vibrant natural New Zealand pāua shell eyes. The shimmering blue and green colours of the pāua create a striking contrast against the deep brown hardwood finish.

The body displays flowing carved patterns, decorative spirals and carefully shaped arms and legs, giving the figure depth, texture and an impressive three-dimensional appearance. The intricate detailing continues around the sides, highlighting the craftsmanship from multiple viewing angles.

Beautiful Pāua Shell Fern Inlay

Adding a distinctive New Zealand touch, the lower section of the Tekoteko features a beautifully crafted pāua shell fern inlay.

The fern is a recognised symbol of New Zealand, often associated with growth, new beginnings and connection to nature. Its iridescent pāua shell finish adds an elegant splash of colour and complements the matching pāua shell eyes.

The rich brown wood finish enhances the natural grain and highlights the detailed carving, creating a warm and timeless appearance.

Standing 330mm (33cm) tall, this Tekoteko is securely mounted on a rectangular wooden display base measuring 150mm x 120mm (15cm x 12cm), providing a stable and attractive presentation.
