Picking cubic zirconia studs
Start with size. Round studs here are listed from about 3mm to 7mm across. 3mm to 4mm is subtle and suits a second piercing, while 6mm to 7mm gives a clear flash of sparkle.
Then choose the setting. Four-claw studs hold the stone up on small prongs, and bezel-set studs circle it with metal for a smoother edge. Most stones are clear, but some 18ct studs use black or blue coloured cubic zirconia.
Metals include sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver, and gold in 9ct, 14ct and 18ct. 14ct gold is 58.5% gold and 18ct is 75%.

What's the difference between studs, hoops and huggies?
Studs sit on the earlobe with a post and back; hoops are circles that pass through the piercing; huggies are small, close-fitting hoops that "hug" the lobe. Drop earrings hang below the lobe.
Is cubic zirconia a diamond?
No. Cubic zirconia is a lab-made crystal cut to look like a diamond. It is far more affordable, but softer and less brilliant over time. Each listing names the stone.

Can I return an item?
