Choosing a September sapphire

Sapphire is the commonly listed birthstone for September, and this range shows it comes in more than blue. You will find blue, black, yellow, pink, purple and orange sapphires, and a few multi-coloured rings that mix several shades in one design.

Nearly all pieces are rings in 9ct yellow gold, with a few in white gold and one each in 14ct and 10ct gold. Styles run from heart signets and rope-edge rubover rings to diamond-set dress rings, swirl and bubble designs, and halo settings with lab-grown diamonds.

Black sapphire looks strong against yellow gold and suits someone who wears little colour. Blue is the traditional pick, while pink and yellow give a softer, brighter look.

Each listing names the sapphire colour and, where given, the sapphire and diamond carat weights. Check your size with our Size Guide before you order, or compare other months in birthstone jewellery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is September's birthstone?

September's birthstone is sapphire. Pieces here are chosen for it; each listing says whether a stone is natural, lab-created or a simulant such as cubic zirconia.

What is sterling silver, and will it tarnish?

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver, the standard for fine silver jewellery. Like all silver it can darken over time; store it dry, away from perfume and chemicals, and polish it with a silver cloth.

What's the difference between 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold?

The carat says how much pure gold is in the metal: 9ct is 37.5%, 14ct is 58.5% and 18ct is 75%. Lower carats are harder-wearing and more affordable; higher carats have a richer colour. The carat is stated on each listing.

How quickly will my order arrive?

In-stock pieces are usually dispatched within 1–2 business days, and delivery times vary with location. Personalised and engraved pieces take longer to prepare; ask us for the timing of a specific piece. Standard shipping is free on NZ orders over $100. In-stock pieces can usually be collected from our Ōtāhuhu showroom within 24 hours — choose Click & Collect at checkout.

Can I return an item?

Yes, within 7 days of receiving it, if it is unworn or unused and in its original packaging with tags. Sale items and gift cards can't be returned. The full steps are on our returns page.
