Choosing December birthstone jewellery

Turquoise, tanzanite and zircon are the stones most often listed for December. The pieces in this range are set with blue topaz, including a deeper London blue topaz, so check which stone you want before you choose.

Most items are rings in 9ct or 10ct gold, mainly yellow with some white gold. Shapes include cushion, square, round, emerald cut and a large oval with a checkerboard cut, and several add small diamonds beside or around the topaz.

There is also a sterling silver cross pendant and a pair of teardrop stud earrings, which make an easy gift when you do not know a ring size. Titles say whether a stone is natural or synthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is December's birthstone?

December's birthstone is tanzanite, turquoise and blue topaz. Pieces here are chosen for it; each listing says whether a stone is natural, lab-created or a simulant such as cubic zirconia.

What is sterling silver, and will it tarnish?

Sterling silver is 92.5% silver, the standard for fine silver jewellery. Like all silver it can darken over time; store it dry, away from perfume and chemicals, and polish it with a silver cloth.

What's the difference between 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold?

The carat says how much pure gold is in the metal: 9ct is 37.5%, 14ct is 58.5% and 18ct is 75%. Lower carats are harder-wearing and more affordable; higher carats have a richer colour. The carat is stated on each listing.

How quickly will my order arrive?

In-stock pieces are usually dispatched within 1–2 business days, and delivery times vary with location. Personalised and engraved pieces take longer to prepare; ask us for the timing of a specific piece. Standard shipping is free on NZ orders over $100. In-stock pieces can usually be collected from our Ōtāhuhu showroom within 24 hours — choose Click & Collect at checkout.

Can I return an item?

Yes, within 7 days of receiving it, if it is unworn or unused and in its original packaging with tags. Sale items and gift cards can't be returned. The full steps are on our returns page.
