21st Keys

Contemporary Glass 21st Key

A glass 21st key is the modern answer to the wooden one. The body is glass rather than timber, so the key catches the light, and the photo sits behind the glass instead of in a cut-out frame — which is why these are the keys people put on a shelf rather than in a drawer.

Most designs take a photo you slide in yourself, and many can carry an engraved gold plaque for the name, date and message. Some pair the glass with a timber base or backing. The product page shows the size, what the design includes and what the engraving costs — nothing is added unless you select it.

Most orders are delivered within 3–5 days across New Zealand. In-stock items can be collected within 24 hours from our showroom at 333 Great South Road, Ōtāhuhu.

How a glass key holds a photo

The photo goes behind the glass rather than into a cut frame, so the whole picture stays visible and protected. You supply and fit the photo yourself — we don’t print it — so check the opening size on the product page before you trim anything.

Finishes and backing

Designs vary in how the glass is finished and what sits behind it: some are clear through to the photo, some are paired with a timber base or backing, and some carry printed or etched detail on the glass itself. Each product page says which.

Gold plaque engraving

Many glass keys take an engraved gold plaque rather than engraving into the body, since glass cannot be cut the way timber can. Engraving is optional — most engraving options are NZ$30, and the product page shows the exact option and price.

Looking after it

Glass keys are display pieces. Handle by the edges, keep them off hard surfaces where they can chip, and clean with a soft dry cloth rather than a spray that could seep behind the glass and mark the photo.

Delivery & collection

Most orders are delivered within 3–5 days across New Zealand and are packed for glass. In-stock items can be collected within 24 hours from our Auckland showroom.
