How Citizen watches are powered

Most Citizens here are Eco-Drive: the dial collects light to charge the watch, so it has no regular battery to replace. There are also automatics (self-winding mechanical movements) and standard quartz models. Each listing names its movement — see Citizen Eco-Drive or Citizen quartz to shop by type.

Citizen ranges

Citizen Promaster covers Citizen’s sport and dive models. For dress watches, browse men’s Citizen and women’s Citizen.

What the specifications show

Most Citizens here are solar-charged Eco-Drive, and a handful are automatics. Many have sapphire crystals, which resist scratches better than mineral glass. Water ratings range from 50 metres on dress watches to 200 and 300 metres on Promaster divers, and case sizes run from about 25 mm to 48 mm, with men’s watches mostly around 41 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Citizen Eco-Drive?

Eco-Drive is Citizen's light-powered technology: the dial collects light from any source to charge a rechargeable cell, so there's no regular battery to replace. See Citizen Eco-Drive.

What warranty comes with a Citizen watch?

Citizen listings that state a warranty give 5 years from the manufacturer. The warranty for each watch is shown on its product page.

What is Citizen Promaster?

Promaster is Citizen's sport and professional line, including dive watches rated to 200 or 300 metres. Browse Citizen Promaster.

What does the water-resistance rating mean?

It is set by the maker, and what each rating allows differs slightly between brands. As a guide, "water resistant" with no depth and 30 m cover rain and splashes, 100 m suits swimming and snorkelling, and 200 m suits skin diving. The rating is on every listing — check the maker's guidance before taking a watch into the water.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Orders are usually delivered within 3–5 days across New Zealand, and standard shipping is free on orders over $100. In-stock pieces can usually be collected from our Ōtāhuhu showroom within 24 hours — choose Click & Collect at checkout.
